About Me, and What I’m doing.
My name is Jacquelyn Lannutti. I am a business student at Drexel University in Philadelphia. I am originally from Norristown, PA where I grew up my entire life and graduated from Norristown Area HS in 2004.
I am raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of my Aunt Dot, who passed away in 2001. She had been battling breast cancer for many, many years, and I will always remember her as a strong woman who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
I designed and purchased close to 1,000 champagne flutes to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. The glasses have “Hope” painted on one side, and the pink ribbon on the other. In addition, each glass has a pink ribbon charm around the stem.
How did I come up with the idea? Why Pink Ribbon Glasses?
I was trying to think of something to give my boyfriend’s family for Christmas, but what do you give to someone who has everything? Glen’s family had been very involved in the Susan G Komen foundation since the three sisters lost their mother in 19XX. I also knew they enjoyed good food and good family time.
I believe that everyone should do something important with their lives, and get involved in something meaningful. Initially, my plan was to purchases glasses for Glen’s family, then I decided it was a great chance to really get involved. I decided to not only to buy personalized Champaign flutes for them, but to purchase an additional 700 and sell them to raise additional money for my own Komen Fundraiser.
I adopted Susan G Komen’s unofficial slogan of “Hope” for my glasses. I marketed them as Pink Ribbon Glasses, an inference to rose-colored glasses, or the idea of seeing the positive side to everything.
